Resumen
El desarrollo sociopolítico y económico de la Región Centroamericana normalmente se ha dado en un clima de violencia generalizado, producido por los conflictos militares que han afectado a la Región, donde la violación de los derechos humanos, los desplazamientos masivos de población se han constituido en característica inherente del centroamericano.
Costa Rica, que se ha distinguido del resto de Centroamericanos, por su clima de paz y democracia que vive, su desmilitarización y sus condiciones socioeconómicas relativamente estables, ha sido un país receptor de inmigrantes de la Región bajo el estatus de asilados políticos, refugiados e indocumentados, principalmente.
Quizás, las características particulares del sistema político costarricense, reflejado en el respeto a la vida, libre expresión, tradición de asilo político, entre otros; Costa Rica no solo ha sido receptor de migrantes extranjeros, sino que se constituyó en la vanguardia de la búsqueda de la paz para Centroamérica.
Hoy día, el contexto político de la región se desenvuelve bajo un clima de esfuerzo por la paz y la estabilidad sociopolítica, fundamentados en un proceso de desarrollo económico, no solo bilateral sino milateral.
The sociopolitical and economic development of the Central American Region has normally occurred in a climate of generalized violence, produced by the military conflicts that have affected the Region, where the violation of human rights, massive population displacements have become characteristic inherent to Central America. Costa Rica, which has distinguished itself from the rest of Central America, due to its climate of peace and democracy, its demilitarization and its relatively stable socioeconomic conditions, has been a receiving country for immigrants from the Region under the status of political asylum, refugees and undocumented, mainly. Perhaps, the particular characteristics of the Costa Rican political system, reflected in respect for life, free expression, tradition of political asylum, among others; Costa Rica has not only been a recipient of foreign migrants, but has also become the vanguard of the search for peace for Central America. Today, the political context of the region develops under a climate of effort for peace and sociopolitical stability, based on a process of economic development, not only bilateral but also multilateral.
