Abstract

Este capítulo tiene por objetivo reflexionar sobre el concepto y los aspectos críticos que son claves para el entendimiento del ecoturismo, sus principios y su práctica. Los aspectos críticos han sido identificados a partir de la revisión de fuentes secundarias que tratan este tema y se han agrupado en categorías como: la definición del ecoturismo, las etiquetas verdes asociadas a su práctica, la conservación de la naturaleza, la mercantilización de la naturaleza. , la mercantilización cultural y los cambios en el modo de vida; así como el papel de la escala y la educación del visitante. El estudio en cuestión concluye que considerar los aspectos anteriores desde un punto de vista crítico es necesario para visualizar qué orientaciones podría tener esta actividad en el futuro. Además, se considera que de no desarrollar el ecoturismo adecuadamente, no solo se atenta contra la legitimidad del producto ofrecido, sino que puede tener efectos adversos sobre las localidades en las que se desarrolla.This chapter aims to reflect on the concept and critical aspects that are key to the understanding of ecotourism, its principles and practice. The critical aspects have been identified from the review of secondary sources that deal with this topic and have been grouped into categories such as: the definition of ecotourism, the green labels associated with its practice, the conservation of nature, the commodification of nature, the cultural commodification and the changes in the way of life; as well as the changes in the way of life. The study in question concludes that considering ecotourism as an integral part of the environment is a key factor in the development of ecotourism, as well as the role of scale and the education of the visitor.
