Resumen
En Costa Rica una parte importante de los servicios públicos son regulados por el Estado. Algunos de ellos son gestionados y ofrecidos por empresas propiedad estatal, mientras que otros son concesionados por el Estado al sector privado para su gestión y oferta. Estos servicios abarcan sectores muy diversos como la energía (electricidad e hidrocarburos), el transporte remunerado de personas, los servicios en puertos y aeropuertos, las telecomunicaciones, los servicios de distribución de agua potable, el alcantarillado sanitario, el riego y avenamiento, entre otros.
In Costa Rica, an important part of public services are regulated by the State. Some of them are managed and offered by state-owned companies, while others are granted by the State to the private sector for their management and supply. These services cover very diverse sectors such as energy (electricity and hydrocarbons), the paid transport of people, services in ports and airports, telecommunications, drinking water distribution services, sanitary sewerage, irrigation and drainage, among others.
