This work refers to historical events that allow us to understand the daily life of women in the colonial era, particularly in relation to the regulations that regulated their lives and that kept them in a disadvantageous and oppressive position. This study provides guidelines for understanding social mechanisms, such as institutions, laws, norms of behavior-that are established for women-implicit in the patriarchal ideology that sustains today's society.
