Resumen
Un estudio reciente, realizado de forma conjunta entre las universidades Nacional (UNA) y de Costa Rica (UCR), reveló que en los últimos siete años se han registrado 183 muestras positivas a arbovirus causantes de encefalitis en caballos; de estos, 147 casos corresponden a encefalitis equina venezolana, 32 al virus del Nilo occidental y cuatro a encefalitis equina del este.
Carlos Jiménez comentó que si los hospitales no pueden efectuar el diagnóstico de estos virus, el laboratorio de Virología de la UNA puede realizarlos sin costo.
A recent study, carried out jointly by the National University (UNA) and the University of Costa Rica (UCR), revealed that in the last seven years there have been 183 positive samples for arboviruses causing encephalitis in horses; of these, 147 cases correspond to Venezuelan equine encephalitis, 32 to West Nile virus and four to Eastern equine encephalitis.
