On the twentieth anniversary of the creation of the Museo Histórico Cultural Juan Santamaría, the idea of organizing the First Seminar-Workshop: "Family, daily life and mentalities in Mexico and Costa Rica, 18th and 19th centuries" took shape. The Directorate of Historical Studies of the National Institute of Anthropology and History of Mexico, the School of History of the National University and the Department of History of the University of Costa Rica actively participated in this event. The publication of the papers and commentaries of the expositions refers to Mexican case studies, especially from the 17th and 18th centuries, reviewing the cultural history or mentalities in Costa Rica and a balance of the subject in Latin American historiography. The book also offers a general bibliography that unifies the bibliographical references mentioned in the presentations.
