Latina eran desalentadores y la covid-19
terminó de encender todas las alarmas.
En 2019, a siete meses de que la palabra
pandemia fuera noticia, se anunciaba que
estábamos a las puertas de una nueva
década perdida. No hubo que esperar. La
Comisión Económica para América Latina
(CEPAL) acaba de anunciar un retroceso a
una década atrás, la pobreza alcanzará a
unas 230 millones de personas, más de un
tercio de la población, a casi cien mil en
extrema pobreza y a unas 44 millones en
el desempleo.
The signs of well-being in America Latina were discouraging and covid-19 finished turning on all the alarms. In 2019, seven months after the word pandemic was news, it was announced that we were at the gates of a new lost decade. There was no waiting. The Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLAC) has just announced a decline to a decade ago, poverty will reach about 230 million people, more than one third of the population, to almost 100,000 in extreme poverty and some 44 million in Unemployment.
