Más allá de The Crown

Abstract

El éxito mediático de la serie de The Crown, los escándalos vinculados con la salida de Megan Markle y su esposo el príncipe Harry del entorno de la familia real, así como la reciente muerte de Felipe duque de Edinburgo, príncipe consorte de la reina Isabel II, podrían hacernos pensar que las familias reales y los sistemas monárquicos son un objeto de la prensa de espectáculos y que sobreviven para atraer turistas. Si bien esas percepciones iniciales tienen un claro asidero en la realidad, lo cierto es que no permiten establecer un análisis más meditado y sereno de las formas políticas que se encuentran tras esa parafernalia que se encuentra claramente vinculada con la familia Windsor o los Borbón en España y sus estrategias de sobrevivencia política.

The media success of The Crown series, the scandals linked to the departure of Megan Markle and her husband Prince Harry from the royal family, as well as the recent death of Philip Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Consort of Queen Elizabeth II , might make us think that royal families and monarchical systems are an object of the entertainment press and that they survive to attract tourists. Although these initial perceptions have a clear grip on reality, the truth is that they do not allow us to establish a more thoughtful and serene analysis of the political forms that are behind that paraphernalia that is clearly linked to the Windsor family or the Bourbons in Spain and their strategies for political survival.
