Evaluación de la política social de combate a la pobreza de la administración del Dr. Abel Pacheco De La Espriella (2002-2005)

Abstract

Ante la severidad de la pobreza imperante en América Latina, los mandatarios de los países de la región, en una reunión en el año 2000 (Cumbre del Milenio) organizada por las Naciones Unidas, acordaron como prioridad inmediata la reducción de la pobreza extrema a nivel mundial. El gobierno del presidente Abel ha sido parte de este compromiso dando prioridad al combate a la pobreza mediante sus “políticas sociales”, por ello pretendemos en nuestro trabajo realizar una evaluación de la estrategia propuesta por el mismo, con el fin de ver si se han cumplido o no los objetivos y las metas propuestas en el “Plan Nacional de Desarrollo” y “Plan Vida Nueva”.Given the severity of the prevailing poverty in Latin America, the leaders of the countries of the region, at a meeting in 2000 (Millennium Summit) organized by the United Nations, agreed on the immediate priority of reducing extreme poverty worldwide. The government of President Abel has been part of this commitment, prioritizing the fight against poverty through its "social policies". For this reason, we intend in our work to carry out an evaluation of the strategy proposed by it, in order to see if they have been whether or not the objectives and goals proposed in the "National Development Plan" and "New Life Plan" have been met.
