Introducción al sistema turístico: una aproximación a los conceptos generales guía para la capacitación

Resumen
La comunidad de Colorado de Abangares, en la Península de Nicoya, Costa Rica, posee potencial
natural y cultural para desarrollar la actividad turística. El diálogo con la comunidad permitió a la
Universidad Nacional determinar que se requería el fortalecimiento de capacidades para brindar un
servicio de calidad acorde con las expectativas de la demanda turística. En la actualidad, ya existe una
oferta de actividades de turismo rural comunitario, las cuales son un complemento de las activida des productivas principales, como son las agropecuarias, la ganadería, la explotación maderera, la
minería artesanal, la producción de sal, la producción de camarones, la extracción de pianguas del
manglar y la pesca.
La Universidad Nacional, por medio de la Sede Regional Chorotega, respondió con el financiamiento
del proyecto “Fomento de los Estándares de Calidad de las empresas de Turismo Rural Comunitario
de Colorado de Abangares” a la solicitud de apoyo realizada por la comunidad en el 2011 y desarrolló
un proceso de dos años (2012-2013), para el mejoramiento de la competitividad de las empresas de
turismo rural comunitario de Colorado. Con este objetivo se desarrolló actividades para: a) la mejora
de los lineamientos de sostenibilidad ambiental (CST), b) la incorporación de los sistemas de están dares de calidad para la obtención de la categorización hotelera, c) la obtención de la declaratoria
turística y d) la capacitación introductoria de un segundo idioma.
Este proyecto constituyó un impulso solidario para potenciar desde la acción de la Universidad
Nacional el desarrollo social de la Comunidad de Colorado y el encadenamiento de este sector tu rístico que está emergiendo con las entidades estatales de autogestión y con intermediarios para la
promoción y ventas del nuevo destino turístico. Este proceso permitió el diseño del producto turísti co, la marca y frase de identificación del destino, el establecimiento tarifario, la estructura de costos
de los productos, el establecimiento de contratos de negocios, la página web, diseño de la publicidad
del destino y el tour operador que los va a representar.
Estas acciones permitieron que la Comunidad de Colorado inicie el recibo de turismo para diagnos ticar la operación de sus actividades en ese ramo. Así mismo, no puede omitirse la importancia del
espacio que brindó este proyecto para que los y las estudiantes de la Carrera en Gestión Empresarial
del Turismo Sostenible de la UNA, tuvieran la oportunidad de poner en práctica lo aprendido en los
diferentes cursos de la carrera.
Una de las acciones del proyecto fue la elaboración de libros que los facilitadores y participantes
utilizaran durante los cursos cortos que impartió el proyecto. Estas páginas recopilan el trabajo de
diseño y preparación del material para la capacitación en el tema “Sistema Turístico” realizada en la
comunidad de Colorado de Abangares durante el 2013
