Resumen
El presente diagnóstico identifica y localiza las principales actividades agropecuarias y eco turísticas que se desarrollan en el Gran Área Metropolitana (GAM), de Costa Rica, y hace un primer análisis de la dinámica y tendencias de desarrollo de ambos sectores en la GAM. Este documento es un recurso metodológico útil que básicamente permite evaluar la situación existente en la actualidad. Adicionalmente, permite orientar conceptual y metodológicamente los estudios específicos de oferta y demanda de productos agropecuarios, de suelo para uso agropecuario y eco turístico, y de servicios eco turísticos. Finalmente, este diagnóstico debe aportar información útil tanto para la formulación del Plan GAM, los planes reguladores, y vislumbrar escenarios plausibles a la hora de plantear tendencias futuras. El presente estudio se compone de información cuantitativa de diferentes fuentes convencionales de estadísticas económicas, así como de varias bases de datos de Sistema de Información (SIG), que ha permitido la producción de una cartografía nueva para la zona de estudio.
The present diagnosis identifies and locates the main agro farming and ecotouristic activities that are developed in the Gran Metropolitan Area (GAM) of Costa Rica, and makes a first analysis of dynamics and tendencies of development of both sectors. This document is a useful methodological resource that basically allows evaluating the existing situation in the area. Additionally, it allows orienting methodological and conceptually specific studies of supply and demand of farming products, of land use for agrofarming and ecotourism, and of ecotouristic services. Finally, this diagnosis must contribute with useful information for the formulation of the GAM´s Plan, Regulators Plans, and to make out reasonable situations when future tendencies will be made. The present study is made up of quantitative information of different conventional sources from economic statistics, as well as from several data bases of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), that allowed the production of a new cartography for the GAM.
