An intensive literature search gives us information on hard and soft tick findings in Costa Rica, published in different scientific magazines, pamphlets and books. As a whole, there are eight genus and forty two species. The recorded genus are: Ornithodoros, Amblyomma, Haemaphysalis, Ixodes, Anocentor, Boophilus, Dermacentor and Rhipicephalus. A description of the main characteristics of each genus of tick found in Costa Rica.
