Ítem Dinámica y estructura poblacional del camarón de aguas someras Penaeus (Farfantepenaeus) notialis, en el Caribe colombiano con fines de manejo y conservación(Universidad Nacional (Costa Rica), 2021) Ramírez Aristizábal, Argiro de Jesús; Paramo Granados, Jorge EnriqueThe Penaeus (Farfantepenaeus) notialis species supports the industrial shallow-water shrimp fishery in the Colombian Caribbean. Since 1986 a state of overexploitation was reached, worsened in 1996, leading to a drastic reduction in the fishing effort as of 2006. The present investigation was carried out to determine the population dynamics and structure of this fishery and to make suitable recommendations for a good administration of marine resources. For this reason, monthly samplings of the fishery were conducted on board for one year (June 2012 to May 2013) as well as a fishing prospecting cruise in the entire fishing area in the Colombian Caribbean for 25 days (September 2013). From the monthly samplings, using the size structure and analysis of modal progressions, biological and fishing parameters were calculated as input data for the application of the analytical lengthstructured models (predictive model of Jones and prospective model of Thompson and Bell) to estimate the Maximum Sustainable Yield - MSY and the Maximum Economic Yield - MEY. With the data from the fishing prospecting cruise and applying geostatistical methods, the distribution of the size structure and the instantaneous biomass in the entire Colombian Caribbean were estimated to determine the MSY. In the same way, the Mean Maturity Sizes - MMS for both sexes were calculated and analyzes of the abundances and sizes were conducted considering the environmental variables: temperature (°C), salinity (psu), depth (m), and distance of coast in nautical miles (nm)
