Resumen
El presente capítulo tiene como finalidad mostrar de qué manera las zonas de frontera se podrían convertir en elementos potencializadores de la cooperación y la integración regional en Centroamérica. Además, se aborda
el análisis desde la perspectiva de la teoría de los regímenes internacionales, de manera que permita explicar cómo dichos regímenes pueden incidir en la
promoción de la cooperación y la integración en la zona. El mismo incluye dos partes, la primera en la cual se presenta un marco conceptual sobre los regímenes internacionales, que busca clarificar en qué consisten, cual es su
naturaleza y cómo funcionan. La segunda parte es un estudio de caso donde se presentan los regímenes de dos espacios fronterizos en particular: el Trifinio
(Honduras, El Salvador y Guatemala) y la frontera Costa Rica-Nicaragua.
