It is well known by all that exporters of non-traditional products that have benefited from the granting of the Tax Credit Certificate (CAT), will cease to do so from the year 2000. The objective of this article is to analyze, in a quantitative way, the potential impact that the elimination of said incentive could have on production, employment and income generation. In addition, it seeks to determine the possible impacts of other instruments such as export taxes and import tariffs in their role as trade policy incentives to offset the elimination of CATs. As explained later, the methodology used to develop the quantitative analysis is a general equilibrium computable model.
