Particularmente, el desempeño de las actividades correspondientes repercute en la organización, generando con ellas calidad ambiental organizacional o infinidad de afectaciones que, centralmente, perjudican financieramente a la misma, estableciendo retos para la salud ocupacional como tal y para la población en general. El Objetivo 8 de la Agenda 2030 de Desarrollo Sostenible, de la Asamblea General de la Organización de Naciones Unidas, lo establece con claridad: el crecimiento económico debe sustentarse, para que sea sostenible, en un trabajo decente. Esto significa, según la Organización Internacional del Trabajo, “un empleo productivo que genere un ingreso justo, la seguridad en el lugar de trabajo y la protección social para las familias, mejores perspectivas de desarrollo personal e integración social, libertad para que los individuos expresen sus opiniones, se organicen y participen en las decisiones que afectan sus vidas, y la igualdad de oportunidades y trato para todos, mujeres y hombres.” En este contexto, el análisis de prevalencias en materia de empleo, trabajo y su relación con la salud de la población trabajadora de Panamá —tanto por sexo como por actividad económica de la población activa panameña—, basado en el quinquenio 2015–2019, son datos estadísticos que generan líneas de priorización en pro de mejorar las condiciones antes mencionadas de la población colaboradora de este país. Estas contribuyen indudablemente a la seguridad y salud de los centros de trabajo, enlazadas a planteamientos de políticas, acciones y proyectos fuertes e íntegros que mejoran día con día, en donde los colaboradores no solo tengan un empleo, sino un buen empleo, reconociendo todas las ventajas que se les conceden.Employment, work, and health conditions are structured according to the activities performed and the benefits they entail, along with the negative aspects that may arise, affecting the health and safety of workers. In particular, the performance of these activities impacts the organization, either by contributing to a positive organizational environment or, conversely, by causing numerous adverse effects that, ultimately, can financially harm the organization. This creates challenges for occupational health and the general population alike. Goal 8 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, established by the United Nations General Assembly, clearly states that economic growth must be based on decent work in order to be sustainable. According to the International Labour Organization, this means “productive employment that delivers a fair income, workplace security, and social protection for families, better prospects for personal development and social integration, freedom for individuals to express their concerns, organize and participate in decisions that affect their lives, and equal opportunities and treatment for all women and men.” In this context, the analysis of prevalence in employment and work conditions and their relationship to the health of Panama's working population—disaggregated by sex and economic activity—based on data from the 2015–2019 period, provides statistical insight that can help prioritize actions aimed at improving the aforementioned conditions for workers in the country.
