La Sede Brunca realizó un proceso de redefinición epistemológica y de oferta académica. En la reorganización académica – administrativa, en el nuevo Estatuto Orgánico, la Sede queda definida como un núcleo universitario desconcentrado, por medio del cual la Universidad Nacional impulsa, coordina y desarrolla programas en una región específica, de acuerdo a las demandas y necesidades del desarrollo nacional y regional.
