Según El Programa de Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo (PNUD), la tasa de homicidios por cien mil habitantes en Centroamérica y República Dominicana (17.3) está ligeramente por encima de la tasa latinoamericana (16.8). Hasta el año 2015 se había venido experimentado una baja que remontó a partir del año 2023. Los homicidios de mujeres aumentaron en términos generales en un 3.2% según la misma entidad y de forma “imprevista” las instituciones tipifican cada vez menos los feminicidios cayendo en un 16% esta forma de violencia. Lo anterior tiene explicación en la pérdida de relevancia de la situación de las mujeres en los discursos políticos y las acciones, por no decir que en el retroceso de la visibilización de su situación y los derechos de este importante sector de la sociedad. El Programa Nuevas lecturas de Centroamérica del Instituto de Estudios Sociales en Población de la Universidad Nacional, Costa Rica, juntamente con la Dirección de Proyección Social y Promoción Cultural de la Universidad Pedagógica de El Salvador, se unieron para ofrecer en esta oportunidad un espacio académico para la reflexión y problematización de la violencia contra las mujeres. Lo anterior con el objetivo no solo de conocer avances en términos de la investigación en la materia, sino, puntualizar las tareas por realizar como sociedad y como casas de educación superior. Este trabajo representa, además, la diversidad y la fuerza de las mujeres en la región a través de cada palabra escrita, de los relatos recuperados, las comunidades visitadas, las charlas disfrutadas, las caminatas dadas, los libros leídos y las fuentes consultadas. Los aportes incluyen reflexiones desde el mundo de las ideas y la idiosincrasia de las sociedades respecto del espacio y los derechos de las mujeres, la salud, la religión, la maternidad, el feminicidio y el acoso sexual. The above with the objective not only of knowing advances in terms of research in the subject, but also, of pointing out the tasks to be carried out as a society and as higher education institutions. This work also represents the diversity and strength of women in the region through each written word, the stories recovered, the communities visited, the talks enjoyed, the walks taken, the books read and the sources consulted. The contributions include reflections from the world of ideas and the idiosyncrasy of societies regarding the space and rights of women, health, religion, motherhood, feminicide and sexual harassment.
