The aim is to find out the perceptions of teachers regarding the difficulties and attitudes of students when faced with mathematical problems in contexts close to everyday life. The survey of 67 teachers collected teachers’ opinions on various statements. The results show that teachers mainly agree that students are actively involved and motivated in working with contextualized problems; but do not show a clear position about difficulty and complexity of contextualized problems as it is currently indicated in the literature. There are no significant differences between groups according to level of education, work experience or dedication to planning.Esta investigación se lleva a cabo tras la implementación de los Programas de Estudios Matemáticos en Costa Rica, donde una de las principales líneas curriculares es la resolución de problemas contextualizados. El objetivo es conocer las percepciones de los docentes sobre las dificultades y actitudes de los estudiantes cuando se enfrentan a problemas matemáticos en contextos cercanos a la vida cotidiana. La encuesta realizada a 67 docentes recopiló las opiniones de los docentes sobre diversas afirmaciones. Los resultados muestran que los docentes coinciden principalmente en que los alumnos participan activamente y se muestran motivados al trabajar con problemas contextualizados, pero no muestran una posición clara sobre la dificultad y la complejidad de los problemas contextualizados, tal y como se indica actualmente en la bibliografía.
