Esta comisión es parte del Consejo Local del Área de Conservación Tempisque, está conformada por representantes de instituciones públicas, privadas, gobiernos locales, la academia y la administración del Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre Cipancí. La articulación de esta comisión ha permitido que desde el año 2016 se lleve a cabo el monitoreo de la cantidad y calidad del agua de la parte media y baja de la cuenca del río Tempisque, con el fin de determinar las presiones sobre el uso del recurso y las posibles fuentes de contaminación puntual y difusa provenientes de la actividad antropogénica, para así establecer acciones de manejo integrado en la cuenca. La importancia de sistematizar este proceso es divulgar la metodología participativa desarrollada por la Cigitem en los procesos de monitoreo de cantidad y calidad de agua del río Tempisque, lo que demuestra que la articulación institucional es el eje central para poder desarrollar acciones conjuntas con miras a mejorar el manejo participativo de las cuencas.The purpose of this document is to present the systematization of the experience of the Intersectoral Commission for the Comprehensive Management of Tempisque (Cigitem)(2020) in terms of monitoring the quantity and quality of water. This commission is part of the Local Council of the Tempisque Conservation Area, integrated by representatives of public and private institutions, local governments, academia and the administration of the Cipancí National Wildlife Refuge. This commission’s articulation has since 2016 allowed the monitoring of the quantity and quality of water in the middle and lower part of the Tempisque River basin, in order to determine the pressures on the resource’s use and the possible sources of punctual and diffuse pollution from anthropogenic activity, in order to establish integrated management actions in the basin.
