Se utiliza una metodología cualitativa de carácter descriptivo y explicativo, aplicando encuestas a setenta y siete empresas distribuidas en los doce distritos del cantón. Los hallazgos reflejan una baja participación en procesos de exportación y en el uso de distribuidores, así como un acceso limitado a las fuentes de financiamiento gubernamental y un aprovechamiento reducido de las mismas. No obstante, se observa que la implementación de nuevas tecnologías por parte de las pymes genera impactos positivos en la competitividad de la región. Asimismo, se expone la introducción al tema mediante los antecedentes, justificación, descripción y el planteamiento del problema, también se plantean los objetivos e interrogantes de la investigación, así como los alcances, limitaciones y viabilidad del estudio. Se lleva a cabo una contextualización teórica de la temática. Se aborda el marco contextual, donde se detalla la historia del comercio, pymes y sector industrial. Adicionalmente, se destaca la contribución de las pymes al desarrollo económico local y el proceso productivo y de comercialización de este tipo de empresas. Asimismo, se aborda el financiamiento disponible y las entidades que lo ofrecen. Se destacan aspectos claves de la internacionalización de las pymes y de las tecnologías avanzadas que estás pueden llegar a implementar en sus procesos.The study focuses on strengthening the business capabilities of SMEs in the industrial sector in the canton of Pérez Zeledón during the period 2024-2025, with the aim of identifying practices that boost their competitiveness and favor their positioning in both the local and international markets. A qualitative descriptive and explanatory methodology is used, applying surveys to seventy-seven companies distributed across the canton's twelve districts. The findings reflect low participation in export processes and in the use of distributors, as well as limited access to and reduced use of government financing sources. However, it is observed that the implementation of new technologies by SMEs has a positive impact on the region's competitiveness. The introduction to the topic is presented through the background, justification, description, and statement of the problem. The objectives and questions of the research are also presented, as well as the scope, limitations, and feasibility of the study. A theoretical contextualization of the topic is carried out. The contextual framework is addressed, detailing the history of trade, SMEs, and the industrial sector. Additionally, the contribution of SMEs to local economic development and the production and marketing processes of these types of companies is highlighted. Likewise, the available financing and the entities that offer it are addressed.
