Methodology has generally been a topic handled and applied by technicians who assumed or were given the authority to determine what was correct or incorrect in the processes of research and evaluation of actions in the social environment. Currently, the importance given to the methodologies or techniques used in research and evaluation is beginning to be systematically and increasingly questioned. This critical approach cannot be said, strictly speaking, to be entirely new; on the contrary, it is a continuation of perspectives that had already been raised in the past. What is new are the circumstances that encourage these questions to be seen as evident and pertinent in current scientific development.
