Abstract
The current orientation of historical research strives to conceptualize theater in a diverse context: that of public entertainment and everyday life; its socially differentiated audiences of spectators; that of culture, with its aesthetic trends and thematic fashions; and that of power, with its censorship, surveillance, privileges and benefits. The purpose is to decipher the complex fabric of scenic practices: apart from entertaining, they draw models of behavior; Ideological diffusers par excellence, they turn the stage and the room into spaces to play hegemomy.
