| es_ES |

2020-2021 projected, at the beginning of this
year, real economic growth for
Costa Rica from 2.5% in 2020 and 3.0%
in 2021. Regarding finances
projected a financial result of the central government (fiscal deficit) of
-5.3% in 2020 and -5.1% in 2021.
This improvement was mainly attributed
for the expected purposes of the application
of the fiscal rule and in the expectation of
collection improvement.
However, the health emergency
drastically changed this reality. In
the recent revision of its projections,
published on April 24, the BCCR anticipates
a fall in GDP of 3.6% for this year and
a 2.3% recovery by 2021.
Social distancing and the rest of the
measures implemented to contain the
health emergency will have an impact
direct negative in economic activity, employment and public finances. | es_ES |
