La Universidad Nacional: del heredio-comunismo al heredio-narcisismo

Abstract

La Rectoría de la Universidad Nacional (UNA) tuvo la gentileza de invitarme a reflexionar sobre el último libro del Dr. Carlos Araya Pochet, exrector de la misma institución, publicado recientemente por la Editorial de la UNA y que se titula LA UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL Y LA EDUCACION SUPERIOR ESTATAL EN VEINTE AÑOS DE HISTORIA (1973-1993). La idea me pareció atractiva porque, a lo largo de los veinte años que tengo de trabajar con esta institución, en ningún momento me identifiqué abiertamente, ni a favor ni en contra, de los distintos nombres que han ocupado la Rectoría de la Universidad Nacional. Esto debido a que siempre me han provocado sarpullido las personas que se hacen a sí mismas la injusticia de quitarse el sueño por aspiraciones de poder o autoridad. Es más, leyendo a Los Hermanos Karamazov (de F. Dostoievsky) uno aprende que hasta el estilo escogido por un ser humano para suicidarse, es decisión última y definitiva de ese solo ser humano en su más absoluta intimidad.

The Rectory of the University National (UNA) was kind enough to invite me to reflect about the last book of Dr. Carlos Araya Pochet, former rector of the same institution, recently published by the Editorial de la UNA and that is entitled THE NATIONAL UNIVERSITY AND HIGHER EDUCATION IN TWENTY YEARS OF HISTORY (1973-1993). I found the idea attractive because, throughout the twenty years that I have to work with this institution, at no time did I identify myself openly, neither for nor against, of the different names that have occupied the Rectory of the University National.
