Te acordás, hermano de Joaquín Gutiérrez : una propuesta para el intelectual Latinoamericano

Abstract

Te acordás, hermano es la obra de un escritor costarricense con reconocida trayectoria en nuestra literatura. Asimismo, esta novela mereció el premio "Casa de las Américas" 1977, fue publicada en el mismo año por esa editorial cubana, y, posteriormente, fue impresa en la Editorial Costa Rica en el año 1978. Resulta honroso destacar que, esta es la primera vez que un costarricense es galardonado con el premio "Casa de las Américas", máxime que la participación en el concurso fue muy nutrida, heterogénea y que el jurado del certamen estuvo compuesto por personas altamente destacadas dentro de la Literatura de América. Esta novela de Joaquin Gutiérrez ha recibido únicamente valoraciones en artículos de periódicos publicados y un artículo editado en la revista Repertorio Americano, cuya referencia a la obra, se hace desde el punto de vista estructuralista en términos muy generales. Por eso, uno de los objetivos de este trabajo es realizar un estudio sistemático sobre un relato que hasta el momento no ha merecido la atención exclusiva de la crítica objetiva. Te acordás, hermano es una novela con una doble significación porque su problemática tiene validez tanto en el momento específico que narra como en el contexto histórico actual de América Latina. Consecuentemente, otro propósito que guía esta investigación es mostrar ese significado que la obra posee en un determinado momento y en la actualidad latinoamericana.

You remember, brother is the work of a Costa Rican writer with a recognized trajectory in our literature. Likewise, this novel was awarded the "Casa de las Américas" 1977 award, was published in the same year by that Cuban publishing house, and was subsequently printed in the Editorial Costa Rica in 1978. It is honorable to note that this is the the first time that a Costa Rican has been awarded the "Casa de las Américas" award, especially since the participation in the contest was very large, heterogeneous and that the jury of the contest was made up of highly distinguished persons within the Literature of America. This novel by Joaquin Gutiérrez has received evaluations in published articles published and an article published in the magazine Repertorio Americano, whose reference to the work is made from a structuralist point of view in very general terms. For this reason, one of the objectives of this work is to carry out a systematic study on a story that until now has not received the exclusive attention of objective criticism. Consequently, another purpose that guides this research is to show that meaning that the work possesses at a certain moment and in Latin America today.
