Ítem A proposal for implementing PBL in programming courses(XL Latin American Computing Conference, CLEI 2014, 2014) Mora, Sonia; Coto, Mayela; Alfaro Salazar, GeorgesIn the search of teaching strategies more consistent with the current needs of the industry and with the new university pedagogical model, an action research project was carried in the programming courses of the study program of Systems Engineering at the Universidad Nacional of Costa Rica (UNA). The project gradually introduced the principles of autonomy, collaborative learning and shared assessment. This paper reports the experience gained during the three years of the project in terms of a specific proposal for implementing the three principles in the area of programming. Aspects to be considered for an initiative of this kind to be successful are also presented.Ítem Participación de las Mujeres en Investigación en Iberoamérica: ¿Estamos cerca de lograr la paridad y en qué?(Mackenzie - Campus Higienópolis, 2018) Quesada Rosales, Ariella; Mata Chavarría, Francisco J.This paper analyzes women’s participation in research in Ibero-America and attempts to relate this participation to areas in which research is conducted in these countries.Ítem The Influence of IoT Simulation in the Learning Process: A Case Study(Association for Computing Machinery, 2020-03-28) Bayani, MajidInternet of things (IoT) is a relatively novel technology which provides connection between things. It was presented for the first time by Kevin Ashton in 90´s.The software and hardware development of IoT is not growing as the same rates as the implementations of its applications in the human life such as: education, administration, business, health, security and our social life. Education is one the most popular field which IoT is presented. This research is a concise survey of a real case which studies influence of the IoT in the learning process. A theoretical revision along with a statistical analysis of a real case is discussed in this work. Finally, the results revealed several attractive impacts of the IoT simulation in the learning process which be outlined in details along the paper.Ítem Time delay performance analysis of sensor allocation strategies on a WSN(ACWR 2011 - Proceedings of the International Conference on Wireless Technologies for Humanitarian Relief, 2011) BAYANI, MAJID; Barrantes, Gabriela; Marín, GabrielaIn many of query-based WSN applications, response time factor is an essential issue. Overall performance under different sensor placements depends on the pattern of queries requested from the network, which in turn might depend on the physical segmentation of the field. This paper explores three predefined configurations in order to compare the time delay performance. The experiments showed that the Uniform distribution of the nodes was the strategy that obtains the fastest response time, and as expected, Random is the one with the slowest.Ítem Las visitas educativas en robótica, la experiencia en un proyecto de extensión universitaria(XIX Congreso Internacioal de Investigación Educativa: Investigación Comprometida para la Transformación Social, 2019-06-21) Hernández Ruiz, Irene; Fonseca Solano, PedroThe following work discloses the experience of educational visits of high school students to the School of Computing of the National University of Costa Rica, to receive robotics workshops as a form of university extension. In addition, the impact that students get to receive this type of workshops is announced.
