dc.description.abstractEl presente estudio se realizó para toda la región centroamericana, entre julio y diciembre de 2001, con el objetivo de investigar las principales políticas e iniciativas planteadas sobre el tema de pago por servicios ambientales (PSA). Específicamente, se realiza un breve diagnóstico sobre la situación actual del PSA en Centroamérica y se recomiendan algunas medidas de política para la formulación, implementación y consolidación del PSA en el Corredor Biológico Mesoamericano. Una de las principales conclusiones es que existe especial interés y necesidad en todos los países de la región por crear el marco institucional e implementar sistemas de pago por los servicios que prestan los ecosistemas forestales. Por otra parte, se determina que para el éxito y sostenibilidad de estas iniciativas, se debe poner especial atención en los procesos de innovación, especialmente en los aspectos financiero, legal, institucional y organizacional. Se recomienda, crear sistemas de PSA, acorde a las realidades y necesidades, biofísicas, económicas y sociales de cada región o país.es_ES
dc.description.abstractThe present study was made for the entire Central American region, between July and December of 2001, with the objective to investigate the main policies and initiatives of the Payment for Environmental Services (PES). A brief diagnosis is made on the present situation of the PES in Central America and some policy measures for the formulation, implementation and consolidation of the PES in the Biological Mesoamerican Corridor are recommended. One of the main conclusions is that exists special interest and necessity in all the countries of the region to create the institutional framework and to implement systems of Payment for Environmental Services that forest ecosystems bring. It is determined that for the success and sustainability of these initiatives, special attention in the innovation processes is necessary, especially in the financial, legal, institutional and organizational aspects. It is recommended, to create systems of PES, agreed to the realities and necessities, biophysics, economic and social of each region or country.en_US
